My name is Lindsay and this is just so I don't feel guilty for not keeping a written journal...

Hi.  It's me.  About 22 minutes ago I gulped a non-aspirin pm.  And before I slip away into my cushy abyss I'll catch up this here blog.

For quite a while I've declared myself schedule-free when it comes to running.  I run when I want/can.  As long as I want/can.  But with my big run just 4 months away I found myself suddenly sucked into a schedule's promise of a LESS-THAN-4-HOUR-MARATHON.  ...!  Can I???  Will I??

I might as well give it a go, so my late nights have got to dwindle.  Big time.

Tomorrow it's a light run, but it's got to be early.  And oh boy it's already 11.

So I'll continue...

Sunday I was made the young women president of my ward.  What do I say?  "Ummm, yes, if my mommy can come..."

Part of me is excited for what's to come.  Part of me dreads the havoc that I'm capable of.  Part of me feels very small.  Part of me feels energized.  The rest of me has turned to vegetable.

So lots on my mind.  Lots to do.  And lots of justifications for Taco Bell and Dairy Queen.

P.S.  To calm the jitters of eagerness to know what brave thing I did (last post) I'll tell you- I re-upholstered a chair.  It's lovely.  It's not done.

OK, night-night.

I guess that if running and YW are your new BFFs I'll give you up for a while. But only a little one, mind you. You have to come back every now and again. Loves and excitement for your new endeavors :)

You will do such a great job, those girls are lucky!! In the past 4 years, I've been Primary Chorister, Nursery Leader, Primary President and Relief Society Secretary. I just got released as Secretary on Sunday. I'll admit I'm exhausted! So when they called me to be RS pianist on Sunday, I GLADLY accepted!

You'll be awesome! That is one of the toughest callings I think as far as time commitment and challenge, but also one of the most rewarding! I've never been pres, but have been a counselor and see all they do! Serving in YW was really a spiritually strengthening time for me. I still love my girls and love seeing them on facebook now getting married and having children.

I suggest you involve your YW in your training program. Maybe include some of them in your runs. Let them think they are supporting you in your goal, while at the same time they can be getting in shape also. Perhaps have the girls plan a 5K event in your ward - in prep for RRYS in Aug.

I can already hear the great talk/lesson you'll give after the marathon ... "WE are Runners".

Holy Moly! You'll do awesome - I totally think you have a justification for TB or DQ! I'm being forced to do a 5k next week because of this fitness challenge thing I'm in...but Ted said he's do it with me. I like your Mom's idea of having the girls train with you. :)

Thanks everyone!
Val- I love that Ted's doing it with you! Are you running a route in Newberg or going to a big event?
Mom- YES, love it.
Maecy- I'm not going anywhere! I'll just a bit distracted so my posts may be fewer..

Congratulations, Lindsay. You will do an amazing job. I have been the YW President in our ward for a year now and I was the first counselor for a year before that. I was NOT ready to be the president, but I could hardly say no. I have grown a lot, learned a lot, and love these girls like they are my own. You will definitely be blessed in this challenging yet fun calling.

We'll be creating our own route in Newberg. I may ask an EMT to be on standby. ;)

How exciting about YW! And I want to go to Taco Bell and DQ with you someday.

I want you to know that you have inspired me to start participating in 5K's. And I have the goal to run a marathon within the next 5 years. With my lungs I will need that long to train.

Now I just need to get my treadmill fixed so I can get cookin'!

Are you in Oregon? There are two boys from our stake serving missions in Oregon-one in Portland and the other in Eugene.

I started a new blog if you want to check it out: http://thephilosophiesofjen.blogspot.com
